Hi All!!

I'm a new Axis owner! :D Just about a month...
And I was asking here about the pickups change question. I'm still thinking about to change my Axis Rosewood pickups (because I want more low output pickups)... At now, I looking for Fralin humbucker (you know it's a most good price and good sound hand round pickups). Also Fralin they have "F-Spaced" (like DiMazio F-Spacing) pickups size. BUT... Anyone know, is it Axis is using F-Spacing size pickup in bridge!? Also, I still don't know about the pickups foot is it fit my Axis... You know Axis pickups is direct mount on the body right... Before, I buy a set of PRS pickups (it's a Modern Eagle/RP model also this model is call Paul Reed Smith himself model) and I really happy to try to change it... BUT... Fxxk!!! I forget it to see the pickups foot size and how long (PRS pickups foot is like most vintage humbucker, it's too long foot for Axis)..... :( I really up sad on it!!!
Anyway, forget it......
So, I hope somebody can tell me more about the Axis pickups spec.

Thank You all!!!
Nick.

P.S. New pic of my Axis Rosewood... I change something...

you'll also need to look at the mounitng tabs-Dimarzios (stock) are dog-eared and Duncan (for example) are rectangular. You would need to cut/grind them to fit.
Also, I do believe the trem equipped axis are F-spaced but the "Sultan of Setup" should know for sure....
Oh, Sultan?.......

NICE rosewood axis.

If you're changing the pickups, I'll purchase the stock pickups from you. :)

F- spacing means Floyd spacing. Locking tremolo bridges are spaced wider than other bridges. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong.

I would think that the Axis (formerly EVH) IS f-spaced but what about the trem equipped SS? Is it F spaced also.
BTW, has anyone dropped a JB into their SS? Any modification required? Any opinions?

;) Thank You All Guys!!! I confirm that the Axis's B pickup is F-Spacing size!! So, I know what is my next step for the pickups change. Anyway, I will keep the stock pickups for some day I sell the guitar. So, sorry... I will not sell the original pickups.

Nick:D .

You guys are gonna think I'm nuts, but there's a good alternative. I just wired a Bill Lawrence Q-Filter in my Super Sport (via push-pull pot) and it's awesome.

It reduces the inductance of your pickups, essentially widening the frenquency band that's passed. So off I get the Axis pickups (lots of mids), but as I dial it up I get more highs and lows through and full open the HBs sound much more like sweeter single coils- it's really amazing. Doesn't change the output- just the inductance and frequency band that's passed.

Anyway, it's $20 and less than a new set of pickups.

Hmm, I'd like to get over to your palce and hear it!
My concern would be finding the room for it (since my SS also has piezo).
Also, I find the DiMarzio's are a tad hard and hot sounding.
How does the QFilter sound when you're in split coil mode?

Sure thing man- you're more than welcome to swing by any time. You can try out my new Piezo Morse as well ;) (Just finishing 'er up.)

Size-wise, it's about the size of a 9V battery. I also put in a push/pull pot which takes a tad more room than the original pot. But having taken apart one of the SS Piezos, I'm sure you could fit it in w/o a problem.

Actually, they're a tad too bright and thin with the filter engaged. Not as much a change as on the HBs though- there you can go from full on HB to single coilish clean with the roll of the tone knob (once the push/pull is pulled out, that is.) But with the filter on, I find I don't use the split positions as much. (Or rather, when I use the split positions I roll back the Q quickly.)
