When I saw Steve and his kick-butt band last year he mostly used the red Luke. It has what looks to me like a passive pickup. Anyone know what that pickup is and what it does.
Is it what gave him that great sustain that would blend into an octave in the emotional "Song For Jeff"? If so, I want one. :D

I think it would be cool if we could get that as an option from the factory, but I'm not about to suggest to BP that EBMM offer that as an option.

Rob,

I put a Sustainer in my Luke, and it required some heavy customization to the circuitry to fit everything into the control cavity without routing. The only reason it was possible on my guitar is because of the larger cavity to accomodate the piezo volume and toggle. Once I managed to fit the board in place, it took about 2 hours to dial in the Sustainer to work with my amp the way I wanted, and it still isn't perfect. I asked Dudley if he had any install tips for the Sustainer, seeing that Luke has a couple, and his recommendation was to send it to Fernandes to have them do the install because it can be a tricky unit to dial in, and Fernandes had done the original install on Luke's guitar. It's certainly not an option coming out of SLO :D
