I am entertaining the idea of getting a used AL and putting a single humbucker in the bridge and playing rock with it.

has anyone every tried this combo?

Or does the wood combo work better in a Silhouette contex?

The Albert lee body shape kinda grows on you and i think it would look totally cool with a single hum in it. a nice zebra or something.

How do these guitars sound with distortion?

cheers!

Pete Dubaldo has one, it's a one off that a former employee of MM sold. It's an original Blue Dawn paint.

Do a search, or I'm sure Foggy will come along and help you out. :)

In that same thread, there's a good video of Blues Saraceno using a humbucker loaded AL that EBMM whipped up specially for him. Take a listen.

Edit: Google search I found this. Senor DuBaldo's BD AL.

I like this one better.

just awesome looking

Cause of its futuristic look I think the Al would look amazing with a floyd

yes so you have more options with the action. You could have it blocked in the trem cavity instead.

Plus it would look a bit sleeker

i LOVED it !!! but i did really miss the bridge single sound alot !!!!

i got 2 al's. one is stock.....& one i am putting a morse pickup in the bridge , and rewireing the tone control to split the morse coils. because it is wound so hot........ the morse bridge pickup split sounds ALOT like the al stock pickup........giving me the best versatility for the gigs i play.
but a floyd on an al ???????? that would change the guitar too much to call it an al anymore. that's just the way i see it. that doesn't mean someone shouldn't take their al & turn it into something else. i just can't think of it as an al anymore.

Oh come on Tommy, you liked it when you played it man???

Maybe next time I'm down at Dubaldo Land, I can get Pete to bring it to the shop for me to mess with, even though I can barely play. :D
