Hey guys, first post here. I am planning on ordering a lefty Axis SuperSport but I will be using a Roland GR series guitar synth with it. My intitial concern is where the Roland GK-3 synth pick up would reside. The bridges on the SuperSports are designed with a little more width (wider steel base) than the typical Fender Bridges, so I was wondering if this extra distance would be a problem. Do any of you have Roland GK 2 or GK 3 synth pick ups on your SuperSports? And does it track just as well as any other guitar? Typically the synth pick up is supposed to be placed right before the bridge so on the regular Axis w/Floyd there is no extra width, but I'm left handed so that is not an option for me (at least not currently). Thanks!;)

I recently fitted one of my Lukes with a GK3, and from looking at the polepieces I wouldn't see a problem with the string spacing on an Axis Super Sport, there's plenty of leeway as the mini pickup for each string is fairly wide.

Indeed the fitting instructions just say to position the GK so that it is as symmetric as possible in relation to the strings. You can adjust the sensitivity of each string pickup to account for differences anyway.

I used to have a SuperSport and couldn't see it being a problem for a GK3.

My Luke is connected to a VG99 by the way. Great piece of kit.

Thanks for chiming in Starsky. I'm glad its working well on the Luke. I was more worried about the fact that the GK pick up itself would be placed further up on the body of the guitar than typically with a narrower trem base. You know what I mean? Not so much the string spacing but the extra distance where the GK would lay on the body of the guitar. Hey maybe the RMC piezo/synth option is also available on the SuperSport? I believe it is on the Steve Morse model right?

Oh, right. I see what you mean. :)

When you said width I assumed you meant string spacing, but yeah, there's a bit more metal between the saddle and the edge of the bridge at the neck side on the MM vintage trem and on the MM hardtail bridge compared to other vintage bridges.

The trem on the Luke is the same as the Axis Super Sport I think? I was a bit concerned about the distance thing too, but I fitted my GK with a small space from the edge of the bridge and it was still within spec for the GK.
