You mean the New York Football Giants cap I made him wear briefly during the playoffs?

Heh.

Yeah, that's him.

I LOVE that pic!
I mean, Chuch Rainey is a god among bass players, but that pic tells volumes about the man, and it's all good good stuff too!

Chuck Rainey is awesome. Probably my favorite electric bass player ever..I sent his webmaster an email one time about how I liked his books and he emailed me back himself. Really cool person.

Didn't want to be identified wearing a Giants hat?

Chuck is a complete die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan. I am the same way about the Giants. Last year was an interesting time to be either one. More interesting for me, really....heh heh.

So the bar over the eyeballs was just a little inside joke.

He is insane, however, for being a Dallas fan. It's always interesting when we get together to watch sporting events, as a few Forumites can tell you.

And yes, I get how nuts it is for me to be pals with Chuck. I try to keep the hero worship down to a minimum. (It's hard.) And not only am I Chuck's friend - I also know BP and Luke. Believe me when I tell you that I never lose my sense of wonder about all this.

During the Dallas Bash, Luke and I were outside the BBQ place and somehow it came up that I had invited Chuck, who wanted to come but wasn't sure he could fit it in to his schedule. Luke said, "You have his number?" I did. So Luke took my phone, called up Chuck Rainey and the rest is history.

Don't ever imagine that I don't get how f***ing cool that was.

I do.

That's cool Jack. I'm a fan of Victor Wooten's music (solo and with Bela Fleck & the Flecktones), and know some folks who have gone to his Bass Nature Camp, which he does once or twice a year. As you probably know, Chuck and a few others (Steve Bailey, Adam Nitti, to name a few) are regulars on the "BNC" teaching staff each go'round. I've heard countless stories from folks who attended BNC about what a great guy Chuck is - down to earth, great teacher - and how many stories he has to tell.

O/T, but kind of in line with the spirit of the thread: has anyone heard of Cleave Eaton?

carol endorsed music man for a few years. She did play on a lot of stuff and is a legend but there is this small problem of what jack said......

Strange thing indeed. I´ve read quite alot about Carol Kaye and the Jamerson tunes she has claimed that she played on. I first found it rather likely that she was called in to replace Jamerson since he had grand problems related to alcohol for quite some time but the more I read, the less likely it was that she was telling the truth. Sad thing since she´s done soo much during her musical life so she has really nothing to proof. She´s a legend none the less and a great inspiration so I don´t understand why she´s saying these things.

And here is another one that is kind of hard to grip:

Bernard Purdie - Beatles recording controversy

Perhaps even more strage......
