Ok, so I have noticed as I get older, the pinkie and ring fingers on both my hands don't work quite as well as they should.

And without really thinking, I have almost stopped playing finger style with my right hand in favor of a pick.

A guitar playing friend noticed at first.

At first, I noticed my fingers curling inward

Now, it has become painful, and I may need surgery. DAMN!

My local GP says it affects Scandinavian people mostly. Being of Siberian descent, that includes me.

Going to see a specialist in PHX next week.

This sux!

Anyone out there ever have to deal with this?

Ritchie :(

Sorry to hear that Ritchie. I have a friend who had something similar...not sure if it is the same...but he tried to "tough it out" and it got progressively worse. When he finally went to the doc's there was nothing he could do. You are doing the right thing having it looked at. Better to be safe than sorry and get this corrected before you wind up with something permanent. Good luck bro!

Get better fast; I noticed my hands and fingers didn't work so well a while back (I'm Scandanavian too!) but my issue turned out to be Lyme disease . . . better now - worth mentioning/checking out . . .

Hi Ritchie,

I have the same thing, showed up as a nodule in my left palm. I had a friend who is a hand surgeon look at it and got the diagnosis. The best thing to do is to not delay treatment if it is needed. I was told that the moment I noticed not being able to lay my hand flat, palm down to come back and see him for possible surgery. There are also a few medications in testing stage for this as well. I was told that I may not ever have to bother with it, but if symptoms start to get worse then take it seriously and get it looked at.

Good luck.

Ritchie, sorry to hear about that:(
But being from scandinavia I can't say I've ever heard about it, so hopefully it's very very rare.
Best wishes on your recovery!

By the way it is most seen in white males with norther European family heritage. It is not understood why though. That was the first question my hand surgeon asked me, "Where is your ancestry originally from?"

Same here. I showed the doc my hands and described the symptoms. He says "Are you Swedish"? I said "No, Siberian". He says "Close enough". heheheh

Richie, you've got the Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale. Can't do much better than that...unless you go to their main location in Rochester MN.

True, but since I haven't got stacks of cash, it's the VA hospital for me.

They are kinda slow there though....

I am certain I saw Black Jack Pershing in the waiting room....
