I thought the limited edition axis tributes released in September 2011 were the first and only run of these. now i see more hitting stores and was wondering if this model is really a limited edition or not. I recall hearing that only a few were to be made of each color .

anyone know the specifics?

They are a limited run available only through Guitar Center. I believe they are doing one more run of them and are slowly being released.

Well, the first run was 10 of each and I believe that the second run is 20. If that's the case, 30 pieces in total is still a pretty limited quantity. Unless they do more of course.

Hey Mario how are things going pal? From what was first stated here there was only supposed to have been a GC run of 130 guitars. But from when it was first mentioned on the board guys started placing orders as well as the ones that were brought to the three guitar shows that were scheduled ending with the Philly show they were just about all sold. Sterling had said from the start if the run went well it was more then likely that GC would extend it. So I am guessing that since hardly any even hit GC for sale they extended it. I do not know the number of the extension but if tonelover is correct and it is 20 more in each color, that is still a very tiny run of 30 in each color!

Everything is a limited edition really...
There are at least 22 purple axis currently listed on the gc platinum site, so the total number counts are going higher, but, that does not determine if it is a good guitar or not. As far as mine goes, I didn't buy my axis because it was a limited edition, I bought it because I liked it, and I'm planning on playing it...alot.
