Greetings all, I've been getting into 7 & 8 string guitars and different tunnings. I like heavier gauge strings as a general rule and some on the gauges go into the bass range. All has been going well but I have a burning curiosity about how the string are made. Is there any differences in say a .040 guitar string as compared to a .040 bass string other than length? Are the cores, windings, tensile strength and so on exactly the same? Or are there notable manufacturing differences? Thanks.
