Are serial numbers for Primium Top Guitars Different

My apologies to the mods if this question has been asked already, but are the serial numbers on the premium top guitars different then the regular Axis Super Sport numbers? I did see somewhere that the neck plate is different on the premium top ones. Is this always the case? I have a lefty Axis Super Sport one on hold at a out of town store and I just want to make sure.
