Lord,

My understanding is that the "fret size" spec's is not available to the public.

However, I do know that if you call customer service they will give you the scoop on re-fretting your instrument thru EBMM.:)

I just want some new frets...I really don't want to send my guitar clear across the country and pay top dollar plus shipping for a fret job that's going to be a big expense anyways. All I want to know is what fret would be about the same as the factory EBMM frets?

This IS the EB forum isnt it? I thought it would be the best place to ask this question:confused:

thanks for the reply though;)

Although shipping and time are a factor, you won't get a better job than through Jon at EBMM. Their bench rates are also reasonable if you call and ask for a quote.

Asking the question is reasonable but so is TNT's response. EBMM doesn't list their exact fretwire in their specsheets and in my four years here has never listed an official response to fretwire questions, and there have been many of them.

If you want to guarantee the same wire, you're best off going to EBMM. If you have a favorite or want to stay local and make a best guess try searching some of the prior threads or maybe someone else will chime in.

I have to say, their prices are incredible. Much less than the bench time at any of my local shops, and the work was perfect. (And I sent mine from Canada.) Also, the turn-around time was damn quick.

1. most shops charge more than you will typically pay ebmm.......even counting the shipping.
2. they do the best fret jobs at any price. (jon is awesome !!!!!)
3. their turn around time is far better than the typical shop .
it's a no brainer i'm tellin ya......
:)

I had my Gold Axis in for a setup and fret level, and Jon did an excellent job about 2 years ago. I had a local shop do a re-fret with stainless, and while he did a good job, if I had to do it all over again, I would send it to Jon. It took 2 weeks, and at the time I wanted stainless. I loved it when I got it back, but after I bought my new tobacco sunburst Axis, I don't play the gold one as much. It plays so much better. EBMM does alot of research and development, and uses the parts they do for a reason. There is nothing that needs modding on an EBMM guitar. I've tried different pickups, and I always go back to the stock ones. They were put in there for a reason. It is perfect from the factory. I highly recommend sending it in. They are the best, period.

Now that this post is up i have a question. What do we people do that are overseas???

If we need a fret job that is?

I have a good luthier here that has done a great job on another guitar of mine, but i would prefer EBMM as well for one of their guitars. Could we send just the neck over for a fret job? Being that it is substantially lighter and waaay easier to send. They could put it on a body over there and do the job the same.

just a future query out there..

This is all super reassurring because I sent my purple Axis to the factory because it was having tuning stability problems. Something that neither myself or my tech could figure out.

I told them to give me an estimate before doing anything because I hate to soak hundreds more into the guitar. Money is tight, so I hope they can fix it at a reasonable rate. It already cost me $56 to ship it one way. OUCH.

Jon is king at refretting

Jon at the factory is definitely the best man to refret any MM guitar. I sent an EVH neck to him for refretting and it turned out better than new. The cost of the refretting was insultingly cheap too, however, as I'm in Northern Ireland, the shipping costs could have almost bought me a new Sub!!! No fault of EBMM of course, just extortinate shipping companies. Get it back to the factory.
