Not sure about this, but I've heard a lot (ok a few) people replacing those p'ups- I believe it's a standard HB route.

nope...Most aftermarket pickup makers design their pups with square tabs and slightly longer legs (than Dimarzio's).

So will any Dimarzio fit in there? Dimarzio makes a wonderful pickup called the Breed it is my favorite passive humbucker.

Thanks for the replies! I actually tried a Breed and it was waaaay to hot as well. Dimarzio says that it's actually hotter than the stock Axis HB.

Hmmm ... well, you got me there!

My fave humbucker is the Bill Lawrence L-500. Absolutely rocks and it's not expensive. Fits in the Axis (it's slightly smaller than most HBs) no problem - I've seen a few up close.

The L-500XL is the hottest pickup short of an EMG I've tried. The L is less hot and still great.

Thanks! I've always liked the JB. How does it compare to the stock axis pup?
