yup, think those are original. The singles have exposed pole pieces but they have black covers on too. Probably are earlier EMG SV single coils (strat rep'l) .... heh heh heh
EMG SV's

The later Steve Lukather SAV's had pole pieces under the cover and non staggered pole pieces. Interesting and very nice guitar you are looking at there...

I don't think so either. They are probably aftermarket ones like JamminJims link showed. Well, it's not mine so no worries; just good for future reference.

Absolutely not

Interesting....
alba22 - I'd like to know if you have any more info to share? Are you 100% sure all Lukes came with flat pole pieces and solid covers?

According to EMG, the Lukes come with SLV/SLV/85 configuration. But did this 94?
The guy could have switched the SLV's out to SV's, but why?

EMG data on Luke

I've never seen a 1994 Luke with a Floyd on it. Is it rare?

My Luke Original has covered EMGs on it... No idea what year mine's from though - serial no 98300. I did think it may have been number 300 from 1998, then I realized I got the guitar in 1997 so unless I've been unwitting transported somewhere in a time machine, my logic's way off!

Does anyone know any info of birth date based on serial no: 98300 for Pearl Red Luke original?

check the styck thread for that "My serial # ..."

As for the original Luke pickup they were EMG SA but I may be wrong but I think those are after market pups

the original Luke pups are SLV's they are overwound more than a SAV click on my EMG data link above.

thanks

I'm saying maybe this 94 Luke is one of the first, or a special one-off, and has the open covers and staggered pole piece SV's on it stock from the EBMM factory. Prove me wrong.

SLV appeared with Luke 2, I am pretty sure Luke1 pups were different

@ threeminutesboy: you are right !

the difference is :

EMG SA 57 Single Coils Custom wound versions of the SA are only available on Luke I guitars
or the OLD EMG Pro series SL-20 Lukather set. No Longer made by EMG, discontinued when the Luke II with SLVs was released.

EMG SLV Single Coils, overwound versions of the SAV featuring hidden pole pieces
available only on the current Luke II guitar or current EMG Pro Series SL-20 Set.

OK it looks like I was wrong - the Luke 1 had SA 57 single coils with flat pole pieces and solid covers. Cool, learn something new everyday. So the owner of the red Luke 1 replaced the SA 57's with SV's. Also cool.
