Hey fellas:

I just found this is a really good place to get helped. I just bought a brand new Axis and that's the motivation for me to register because now we all have something in common!!!

I sold my 1990 Charvel for the money to get this new Axis. But what Axis gives me is just to make me feel dissappointed.

First, the pickup switch doesn't work at all so I dont have the sound!!!!!!(not pickup problem just switch's)

Second, there are two cracks on the both sides where the body and neck connect.

last, the tremolo is'High stability tremolo system' instead of Floyd Rose.

I'm from Canada and i purchased it from US. Do you guys know if it is really easy and cheap to repair that broken pickup switch? If it is and wont affect the guitar at all I ll just get it fixed by the local music store because I dont want to send it back to US which will be lots of trouble!

The switch should not be a problem at all. You could probably even do it yourself, and I highly doubt that changing the switch will affect the sound. If you have your techs change it that should not be that much either probably. I had my voume pot changed once on my Ibnz and it ran me like 20 bucks or something. Anyway, good luck, and post some pictures :D . That reminds me I have been here for like 4 months and I havent taken a picture of my Silhouette yet  .

Welcome!
Stress crack problems come up here once in a while, and general concensus seems to be that they are just finish cracks, so you shouldn't worry about it too much.

As Roubster said, a switch shouldn't be a problem. Beside, if you bought your Axis brand new, you have a year worth of warranty and you can always ship your guitar back to the factory and have them fix the switch (and maybe finish cracks along the way)

As far as the tremolo - I believe EBMM doesn't use original Floyd Rose units, but uses very high quality Gotoh or Schaller ones (I think it used to be the former, and now it's the latter, but don't quote me on that). These are NOT cheap Korean Floyd knock-offs. I don't think I've ever seen anyone complain about them on this board.

It's a great guitar, and with a small fix our two you'll be loving it I'm sure.

Whereabouts are you exactly?

Find a good tech/store and have them replace the switch and do a good setup. You'll be sold :D

Thank you all of you guys!

hey, beej,im from the Maritimes. The most famous music store here is the Musicstop in Moncton,NB. I called them and they said they have the original switch for Axis. I dont know if there is trustable. Because it is about a NEW guitar. I dont want it to be screwed up at the begining of her life.

Wait a sec- this is a new guitar?

I'd call EBMM customer service and get their advice first.

BP (Mr Ball!) gets a bit peeved at people who don't contact CS and then air any grievance on the forum.

CS should be one of the first places to go.

I have a new guitar being delivered very soon now and if there's a problem it will be back to the dealer/distibutor/CS not airing on the forum first off.

I know this may be sounding a bit harsh, but honest feedback is better than bull poop!

Welcome to the group and enjoy the ride.

Hey Shuai,

MusicStop's a good place, they are definitely trustable. You can also call David Guy at Boogaloo Productions (709) 738-5046 - he knows his way around a Music Man guitar and used to be our Maritime rep there, but decided to open his own shop.

I think David Guy might still have the Music Man "tool kit" which, if I remember correctly, had switches for quick repairs in it.

If not, try JC Moreau at 506-388-3610, he's our current Eastern rep

Cool .. whereabouts in the Maritimes, if you don't my asking. I bought my Axis at Musicstop Moncton. Danny was the guy I dealt with, he seemed like a nice enough guy...for a sales guy that is. ;)

Hey Murphy:

I know I was a bit freakin'out on the board. But my situation is I'm from canada while bought the guitar from US due to cheaper price there. I was told that as soon as the guitar goes out from US the warranty is gone. Even the Canada customer service is willing to repair the switch for me I still need to pay the shipping costs. Thats why i didnt contact CS and looking for some repair suggestion here.

Ok, well unless you want to go back down there (I buy my guitars in the US as well) then i guess you'll have to get it fixed up here.

No worries, it's a really easy fix and shouldn't be expensive. Make sure a local guy has the part (or buy it from EBMM directly) and get a tech to wire it in. Really easy job.
