Ok, So I'm HANGING for my new ASS to arrive.

The original pics I posted (from seller) got some comments on the nice colour mods (black) to the knobs & PUP selector.

So I think to myself....... what about all black PUPS like the BFR's ???

Here's a before & after (paintshopped)....

What do you guys reckon ??

I lean towards the original zebras, but the BFR teasers still have me thinking !?!

Before I even started this I suppose I should have asked :

Are the zebra covers removable / interchangeable ???

(I haven't even tried on my old Axis yet)

If it were mine Id go with the black, I think it looks subtler & more classy. It allows the eye to concentrate on that expensive top, rather than attracting all the attention towards the 2 pieces of white plastic.
Of course it's not mine............

Yep, that's what I reckon they're trying to accomplish with the BFR ASS's.
But the white covers are (sortof) a continuation of the light coloured Maple board, and the binding is light too........
Then again, the black knobs and switch look great ?!?

You've just nailed the reason why I was having a dilemma in the first place ! :)

I can see myself bouncing FOR and AGAINST all the way through this thread !

I agree. I like the Zebra because they accent the fingerboard. I'm all about changing stuff on the guitar, but stick with the zebras.

Hmm. I like the Zebra look, myself.

I'm not sure if the white parts are covers, or the actual bobbins that the pickup windings go around. You have gotten me curious -- out to the shop I go...

I'd say if the zebras were cream colored, keep them. That would match the binding and the neck better.

Either way, it's still going to sound awesome.

I like the all black too. Don't think you can change the colour of the bobbins, but you might be able to pick up a cheap Sport and swap the pickups (same kind, just a different colour).

It looks like a pretty even split. But you inspired me to order some chrome colored covers, knobs, tremolo tip and pickup selector for my ASS with MM90s. I'll let you guys know how that turns out, assuming the stuff even fits.

I prefer the zebras. but I agree that the black knobs and switch tip makes it less pimp-my-ride-ish and much more classy...
