Howdy everyone....has anyone here set their Axis (or any other EBMM) to have the trem float like it does on the Luke?

Since we got in the latest Luke BFR, I was thinking of trying it with one of my SuperSports.

I'm thinking that maybe the trem posts will need to be raised a little.

Hey Jeff,

In my opinion you can't set it up correctly, and an Axis, since it's designed for "body rest" of the trem plate, can't accommodate this genuinely.

But, if you insist, and you raised the pivot screws, then loosened the trem springs so that the trem plate comes up off the body (and rests level in mid air), I guess you could call that a floating trem.

However, your "action" would be quite high. But, then you could always shim the neck pocket and/or the saddles to lower the action at that point.:)

I just didn't see any difference between the ass bridge and the luke, but the luke's trem floats.
That's what gave me the idea that it might work.

TNT - are you thinking of the Floyd on the Axis? The vintage trem on the ASS is a doddle to float, but a FR is harder.

When I got my Super Sport, it was set up to float. It's not difficult to do with the EBMM trem. No idea with the Axis, as I've never used one of the Floyd thingies.

No, I'm not talking about the Axis w/floyd...I'm talking about the Axis Super Sport with the vintage trem (just like the Luke)...it floats beautifully on the luke, but it tilts forward a little rather than being parallel with the body. It would seem to me that you could do the exact same thing with the Super sport, or any MM guitar with that same bridge...

AM I missing something????

I've done it to my Sub, and it was great. I'd like to do it to my Silo too, but not until I do some maintenance and get a third guitar.

i realize the downside of it would be that you would lose the tuning stability if you broke a string...but, i have yet to break a string on any of my EBMM guitars!
I have several of these guitars, so I'll do it to one of them and see how it works out.
thanks everyone for your help
