So i'm stuck at home for awhile because I fractured my ankle and ended up with a blood clot in my leg after 2 days with a cast on. I was starting to get pretty bored but this morning my friend emails me a mix of a song I played bass on about a year ago. My friend is a artist/musician who did a series of 100 paintings and wrote a song for each painting. He is eventually going to record all 100. He invited me over to his studio to record bass on a few of them when I had just got my Big Al 4 SSS. I had never heard these songs before, so everything I played was made up on the spot. My friend Noel Paris plays drums, keys and sings. Guitar is by Mark Arnold (Big Drill Car) and i'm on the bass. I do play bass in a band with these guys occasionally but this song was soley for the purpose of the art thing. I wish I still had the Big Al but I wanted a Bongo more, so you know how that goes around here. Neverending G.A.S. I do like the Bongo more for live but i'm finding that I wish I still had a Big Al for recording. The lower output makes it a little more recording friendly IMO. Anyways, the Big Al is in the Series position (two rear pickups) and is active. Here it is....

Very nice tune.

(And very cool that you play with people of Big Drill Car. I always liked them. Didn't they have some gigs with ALL recently)

Yeah, BDC has been one of my favorite bands for 20 years, so it's awesome to play with Mark. They toured with All a couple years ago. Now that the Descendents are playing again i'm hoping they hook up with BDC for some shows. I saw the Descendents in Long Beach last month and it was incredible. Stephen's EBMM Axis sounded great as usual.

Oh you have been to Long Beach? Great. For obvious reasons I could not be there, but I got the T-shirt from owned and operated.
The Descendents are so great. The last time I could see them must have been on the Everything sucks tour. I have met Chad when he was here with Drag The River.

It would be very cool to have the Descendents and BDC together for a european tour. As far as I know from Karl they might be coming early next year or something.

I like it. I'd love to see the painting it's based on, too.

This has become a great place to find new stuff to listen to and be inspired by. I'm usually just getting GAS from all of the pictures. :D

Descendents are headlining the North by North East festival in Toronto this year and are playing with OFF! I am beyond pumped up for this show. It will be my first time catching the Descendents live as they haven't been to Canada for ages....seems Milo spent more time at college than initially anticipated.... Not sure if you've heard anything from OFF!, but they are quite good too. Will be their first date in Toronto as well.

Very cool tunes Randracula.

Very Nice! OFF! will be here together with F*cked Up in august.
I heard there was an ALL show with all three singers on May 28th, 2011, as part of the BYO Records Punk Rock Bowling festival. That must've been killer!

You should definitely check out F*cked Up. They are Toronto Hardcore band that have been around for years. They released an album just under 2 years ago that blew them up in Canada and also in the US. They aren't your typical hardcore band, very unique take on the music. They do a lot of really different sound scape-ish type of tunes with some killer hooks. Very cool. They are playing Toronto with OFF! as well, so it will be a solid lineup with Descendents. I heard about that ALL show, wish I was there as well...

:DOh, I do know them and already had the pleasure of seeing them live about 4 years ago (Epics in Minutes etc) when they had only the 7 Inches out. Great band and actually one of my favorites at the moment.

It seems we have more in common than the same Big Al colour;).

Great minds think alike I guess....I was also born in Germany just to add to the list of commonalities. In the village of Lahr, in Schwarzwald....Army brat during the cold war.

Those 7 inches are CLASSIC!!!! They used to host this weekend festival every year called "F*CKED UP WEEKEND" at the same time those were released and had a bunch of amazing bands come to Toronto. They did 3 days of crazy shows. Very cool band. Didn't know those EPs made their way across the pond.
