I visited a couple of stores in Atlanta (where I am this week), and had some observations.

The Atlanta Guitar Center off of I-85 has a really impressive array of EBMM guitars and basses. Better than any of the Guitar Centers that I have been to around LA.

They have a 30th SR4 (no, I didn't buy it), a Stealth Bongo 5HH, and a bunch of other Bongos, Sterlings and Stingrays. They also have a few MarkBass pieces in the bass room. They are even hooked up so you can use them.

The guitar selection took me by surprise. They have a Petrucci (with neck inlay), 2 Rosewood A.S.S.'s, 2 regular A.S.S.'s, a 20th Silhouette and a Luke. FYI, they were quoting prices WITH the case included.

I also went by the Atlanta Music Brokers (on Alpharetta Highway), and they had 4 basses in stock (no guitars). They had a SR4 HH in Tobacco, a natural SR5 H, a black SR5 H and a 30th SR4.

The price they quoted me on the 30th was really good. There was a pencil eraser-sized ding on the back. It plays well. I didn't buy it either, so some local guy might want to pop in and pick it up. PM me if you want more details.

Anyhow, I got my practicing in yesterday. Both stores were really good about letting play the stuff.

I'll check in again if I find anything else, and will report on some Chicago dealers next week...

Secrest out.

Rex, do you recall what type of fingerboard was on the SR4HH tobacco?
And did it have a matching headstock?

The guitars at the Atlanta GC were pristine (they are kept up high), and the basses I played were set up well. I didn't check for Wonder Wipes. I plan on stopping by the Marietta store later this week, and will check.

The basses in stock at the Atlanta Music Broker store were pretty grubby, and were playable, but could have used a set-up.

But I didn't get my SR5 there, I bought used from a Talkbass posting...

Thanks for the update on the EBMM dealers. Glad to hear of the instruments they have in stock .. hopefuly EB is just as prominent! Kinda hard to miss those bright packs of Slinkys ;)

I love the Atlanta GC, It's great, huge store, with a great selection of basses, they have a few of each, Stingrays, Sterlings, and Bongos....I also like the seperate room they have just for the basses and bass amps.

The Marietta store is not quite as good as the Atlanta store, they don't have quite as many EBMM basses on display, they have some Sterlings, and Stingrays, and the last time I was there, they only had one Bongo. Nevertheless, I bought my Markbass at the Marietta store, it's a good store, Jon and David there, are great.

I bought my '02 stingray from Atlanta Music Brokers and they are definitly a great and honest dealer, wont force you to buy anything and more knowledgable than most dealers in the area about their gear...i've bought other items from GC before and it all depends on who is helping you whether your experience is good or not
