I saw them at the Roxy in Hollywood 3 weeks ago. It was an incredible show! The band is awesome and they did some great songs especially the ones from the original Zappa Roxy album. BTW, there were 8 musicians in the band at that show.

I had such a great time, I am going to see them again in Ventura in February.

As far as gear goes, I don't remember the amps Dweezil was using. There were so many on the small stage it was hard to tell who was playing out of what. He played a Gibson SG all night. (I wonder if that was Frank's old guitar.) The Bass player played Lakland, and they look almost exactly like Fender J and P basses. I thought they were Fenders when I saw the video, but they turned out to be Lakland.

Anyway, it was the show of the year for sure. Can't wait until Feb.

Yeah, I'm sure he played the SG pursuant to the "Zappa" theme!!

I just have a feeling that if he had it his way, he'd be playin an Axis - in fact I'm sure of it!

He's a fantastic guitar player.

As I have been a Zappa fan from very early age, way back from the late 70's when the "Dweez" was only a nipper, I can tell you that when he started playing guitar he was never influenced by Frank's music, oh no, he was a EVH wannabee  luckily this was only for a short period of time.

He even had lessons from Eddie, and all his first guitars were EVH clones, His first 2 records under "dad's" label didn't do very well and his playing style and influence finally matured into what he does today. Of course his technique and ability to play was in his blood and just waiting to come oozing out, but it all happened after Frank's death when he took a definite turn, dropping all his pointed headstock guitars and EVH clones and started to concentrate on his father's music, first by using the old Hendrix burnt strat which his dad left him and then an SG which I am not sure if it was his dad's or not but its what he is using a lot these days.

His amps are a mixture of Marshall, Mesa and Soldano heads over different types of cabs.
