2nd - As many of you know, I've played at Cowboys in Kennesaw for the past two years three nights a week. The gig pays well ($500/wk) and is a great place to play. Cowboys is a large country music dance hall and the house band opens for every national act that comes through. I love my gig there, but I am also a Realtor. In addition to that, I have a baby girl on the way (she's due Sept 9th) :p and this is my first child and I want to be able to spend more time at home. My last night w/ Cowboys was this past Saturday night. I wanted my friends here on the forum to have a chance at a good gig if they are interested so thats why i posted this thread.

If anyone is interested in auditioning for this gig feel free to email me and I'll get you in touch with the right folks.

thanks,
Jeff Brewer

one thing i really like about this board is that the folks here are all good people. this is a fine example ... a guy leaving a gig to enjoy his family and also making sure that someone cool has an opportunity to take over.

that's awesome!

rock on ... i mean ... line dance on

Jeff,

Congrats on the impending parenthood. You're gonna love that little girl more than you can ever imagine.. even now. My little girl is 3 now, and she's got a little brother who is 17 months. Can't remember life without them, and wouldn't care to, either. ;)

+1 Although my son will be 22 in 4 months, it's been the greatest ride ever.

I just tucked my three year old in bed, and when they look at you all serious and say, "Daddy, I love you", it changes everything.

Everything.

sorry for sending you both a PM and e-mail, but I wasn't sure which mail it was linked to.

how old would i have to be to play there? just wondering, bunch of kids from my school "party" there.

It still has the same effect when they grow up and tell you that.

Right!! There is not a better gig in life than that of being daddy. Even when they leave the nest.

1st - thanks so much for the response so far on this thread. You guys all seem so cool and if we were all in the same town, i'd have everyone over for dinner.

Anyways, the nights are thurs, fri, and sat nights from 9-2:30. We do three 18song sets most of the time and on concert nights, we do 1 set w/ around 24 songs. The only time you have to tear down your gear is before concerts (about 1 per month). The musicians are great (especially chris the guitar player and tim the steel player) These two guys are truly gifted musicians. I truly hated leaving this gig. I almost cried sunday when I tore my gear down. I know that the reward will be greater than the loss. I can't wait until I lay my little girl down at night and she tells me she loves me. That will be the ultimate reward. I'm still close to the guys in the band. We're like brothers. Anyway, I would be wrong to pass the torch to anyone other than my friends here in the forum. Good Luck.

one thing i wont miss is all the line dancing. These people would line dance to Amazing Grace. Don't laugh. I actually saw it happen once.
