AxeFX Brown/USA Lead A/B Preset

Start Player

This is an Axe FX Ultra clip testing some new tones with my typical A/B morphing scheme with Boss Exp pedal set to Exp 1. Morse of course (but with DiMarzio Anniversary PAF in bridge at the moment). This program I wrote morphs pretty smoothly between a Brown amp and USA Lead amp for the A rhythm and B lead. There is a plate verb on all the time that fades down from 100% to 75% when you step on Exp 1. Also, my favorite mod delay comes on as you morph to USA Lead. This clip is through a real cab with the Axe doing the Amps (with Axe power amps on) and FX. Pardon the cheeze. :)

Patch Please John !! :D

(Have you uploaded it to the Axechange ?)

Which cab / mic / mic position did you for the recording ?

Did you try any of the Axe cab sims / IR's ?

Another killer clip John! Have to say, that's one of the better AxeFX clips I've heard. I can't tell that's an amp sim.

Thanks guys,

Beej, in this case, I was still sending the preamp dry out to an Egnater Mod 50 power section to Port City OS 4x12.

No, my Axe isn't online yet, but plan to get it up there soon.

.

Interesting that the Axe was doing the amps, with power section on, through the Mod 50 power section.

Is the Mod 50 power section quite dry/flat ?
I found too much compression etc using that method, but was trying Mesa power amps. (I use SS now, but if I ever use my Mesa I have the Axe power amps off)

Which firmware version are you using ?

Those Port City cabs are great.
Hope Daniel finds an Aussie dealer / distributor !

MOD 50 can be very colorful depending how you run the amp. I have it only moderately colorful here. You have to back off on the Damping, Sag and Master controls of the power amp simulation if using a real power amp. Don't just turn them off because this may leave it too sterile unless you have a very colorful power amp. Yeah, the Port City cab is the best cab I've ever heard. Records really easily too.

Great clip, John.

I have an Axe-FX as well and my Silo sounds awesome through it. It's a really powerful tool.

Sounds great! So the Axe-Fx lets you disable power amp simulation and/or mix and match pre amp and power amp simulations?

Yep.

You can turn the Power amp off and use a tube power section, or (as John has done) just adjust the power amp sim parameters down to suit.

Same with the cab sims / IRs.
Use a traditional cab and switch cab sim off, or use FRFR speakers and choose from the many cab options. Again, you can fully adjust the cab sim to suit your needs.
(I have two 1x12 Thiele cabs loaded with EVL Black Labels and leave the cab sims on adjusted.

The Axe is an unbelievable unit.
I have the Ultra.
The effects are also as good / better than anything from Eventide or TC Electronic.

That sounds awesome!!! Very tasy playing.

Another Axe user/believer here. It is unreal, and I just have the Standard! :) I use mine in two manners, either direct record with all sims or I run it in the 4 cable method with my Bogner going through a Mesa 2x12 and I switch between my Bogner's preamp or the preamp models in the Axe minus power amp and cab sims. It is one amazing piece of gear.
