I think they are made by Seymoore Duncan but past that i don't know....but if i had to guess they sure sound close the the Jeff Beck pup that SD is famous for.
Bigg Poppa would know for sure ..:)

They're custom wound DiMarzios and I'm pretty sure they're exactly the same. They are the same pickups that came in the EVH too. Any tonal differences between the two are coming from the different bridges or lack of a tone knob in the case of the Axis. And they would sound different depending on which fretboard wood it has.

The Axis does not have a floating trem. I suppose you could set it to have a lift a bit so that you can pull up some, but it is not a true floating bridge. It works much better if you have it set to come to rest on the body and dive bomb only....tuning stability with it set that way is awesome!
