I've been thinking of trying the Ernie Ball Hybrid Slinky (.009 - .046) set on my Axis. I have the Gotoh Floyd which is currently set up for .009s from the factory.

My question is, if I throw on a set of Hybrid Slinkys how far should I adjust the trem claw?

On my other guitars with floating trems when I went up a string guage, all I had to do was re-level the bridge.

Its harder to tell how much to adjust when the trem sits on the body. Anyone with the Gotoh Floyd try this?

You shouldn't have to adjust much. When the trem rests on the body, it's really up to you as to how much tension you want on the trem.

I went to hybrids about a year ago and haven't looked back, I love 'em. For the 1/2 step flat and drop D, they're great. It's not as loose feeling as when I played the 9's.

It may need little or no adjusting. Ususally, a change in string gauge requires an adjustment of the trem springs (due to added or decreased string tension) and a truss rod adjustment (same reason).

You may need to tighten the trem springs a hair, and adjust the truss rod so that the action is to your liking.
