From what I've gathered the only difference between the Axis and Axis BFR is the tone block and different finish options? Is that correct? Seems like there should be more given the nearly $1,000 price jump between the two...

Second, I was under the impression that all the Axis/Axis SS 's had matching headstocks and that it was older models that didn't have the matching HS. I found an Axis SS on ePay. It says it's a 2009, no matching HS, and it's about $300 less than an Axis/SS with a matching headstock. ...Does that sound about right?

Thanks,

Axis BFR vs. Axis differences - tone block, nicer inlays on fretboard, matching headstock, better case, choice of different colours. Whether it's worth the extra 1k is up to the individual, although I do feel you get a little more for your dollars on the other BFR models. That said, I have a BFR ASS and it's my go to Axis guitar!

The matching headstock is, and has pretty much always been, a chargeable optional extra on the regular Axis and ASS line even going back to the days of the Sport.

The BFR Axis and Axis SuperSport models both come standard with a matching headstock. The normal production Axis and Axis SuperSport have the option of a matching headstock, which currently adds $200 to list price. The tremolo equipped models list at $100 (vintage) to $150 (locking) more. This can cause the difference you are seeing in price between the models. Also, any color with "burst" in the name adds $100 to list price on the standard models ($125 list for vintage sunburst).

I hope that helps!
