Hi All, just a quick query on the screws used in the Axis trem cavity. My screws are pretty 'rounded off', and I'd like to replace them next time the guitar is set up. Was wondering if anybody knew if the springs for the claw are the same as the neck screws? They look the same going by what I can see of them, and I can't see dedicated claw-springs as a replacement part. Thanks for any input. :).

Take them out, bring them a hardware store and buy the correct size replacement. While you are there, buy a proper set of screwdrivers. Stripped screw heads damage screwdrivers, and vice-versa, which is a vicious circle that eventually can damage the screw heads so badly that you'll need a pro to take them out. With guitar neck bolts, trem cavity cover, or control cavity cover screws, if the driver slips from the screw head you'll make a nasty, deep scratch across the back of your guitar, as many people here will attest. Always use the right size screwdriver!

I'll consider myself told! It's a used Axis, in great shape save the condition of the claw/neck screws, not my doing. I'll email MM direct with my question.

very old thread but I like having answers at the end of threads. :)

Fender neck screws have been the standard claw screw size since perhaps forever.
