Axis finish marks

Hi guys

I have several Axis Supersports one is a 2008 model and has a blemish in the top laquer finish that runs parallel with the grain but is not a break in the laquer or wood, are body breaks at all common on hard tale supersports ?

Not in my experience. I have a hard tail Super Sport that I ordered from the factory 4 years ago...not a blemish or crack on it after 4 years of playing.

Almost impossible to see let alone photograph, it could be a finish application issue but I was wondering if there was any history of wood cracks,

Not impossible I guess but it would be exceptionally exceptionally rare if that is the case. Obviously without seeing it in person, nobody here can judge or tell you what is really going on. Take it to an experienced luthier and see what they think. (If you don't know of any ask some of the pro musicians in your area who they trust with their instruments or call Music Man's UK distributor, Strings & Things, and ask them if they can suggest anyone).

I have tried to take pictures and it is impossible to see in a photo. The main thing is that you guys have put my mind at rest that there is not a history of body splits that may have caused this. I have owned the guitar for quite some time and never noticed it before but it does not look like a fresh event as such.

On both my Lukes you can see in certain lighting where the body pieces meet. Impossible to photograph but on both my axes I can see it, although both are solid finishes. Do you mean that?

I think I probably do mean that mine is a rosewood top model and that is an assembly of various pieces of rosewood I think about 5mm thick and I am sure it is over one of these joints.

I really am not worried at all, and don't think I should be.

I was under the impression that the body of the Luke was made from a single piece of alder. I have watched numerous 'making of' videos (as part of my increasing Music Man obsession) and have not seen any signs of block body construction methods.

Well I don't think so but maybe someone from EB can confirm/deny this. To me the line makes it clear that it is at least built from 2 pieces..They're both at the lower side of the body, at the middle of the lower horn.
