I have a axis with a Floyd Rose tremolo. Would it be possible to convert it to a hardtail or upgrade it to make string changes and intonation easier? I love my axis, I just find it somewhat a pain to get set up properly.

I'd either put a Tremol-No on it (no mod needed) or sell it and get a hardtail. I've also put blocks inside the cavity although it's a lot more tricky, but it does work.

+1, just get an Axis Hardtail if you can find one or get an Axis Super Sport Hardtail and disconnect the tone pot.

The Floyd on the Axis is already resting on the body, so tightening the springs (maybe even add more) will practically turn it into a hard tail.

I saw a video that showed Schaller has a vintage tremolo that's a direct drop in for a Floyd Rose cavity, similar in appearance to EBMM's vintage tremolo.

A good guitar tech could fill in the cavity with a tone wood, then pre-drill for the bridge of your choice. Not overly expensive and you get to keep your guitar.

Or sell or trade your guitar for a hardtail.
