Hi EBMMers!

I recently picked up a beautiful tobacco burst Axis, but it did not come with a whammy bar. I ordered one yesterday, and it got here today (outstanding service, thanks Dan!). I am going to go home and attempt to install it.

At first I thought I could just pop it in, but upon further examination, I notice that the part of the shaft that goes into the bridge is internally threaded. A tiny allen bolt and a few plastic washers were included in the kit.

I have no objections to tinkering with it all and figuring it out, but was just wondering if anyone with first hand experience can let me know how to get that sucker on there.

I'm hoping it's a lot simpler than I am making it out to be!

Thanks!

it's a no brainer ~just make sure little set screw on underside of trem nut is loose enough to allow the bar to slip into it~ this screw actually tightens it if you like to keep it with stiff action as far as "pivoting" goes or freely moving if you let the bar go it will drop down unless this is tightened, the screw and washer is installed thru inside under trem back plate to keep it in place i personally leave it off so you can remove it but if you never want to loose an arm you can tighten it from the "inside"
axis rocks!!!

I got the bar installed easily. You're right, it was a no brainer. What I didn't get, but just now confirmed, is that when the bar is installed using the little allen screw that came with it, it is on there "permanently". Well, not permanently, but once the backplate is screwed in, there is no accessing that little screw to remove the bar.

I am accustomed to removing the bar of my strat or prs before putting it in the case. I just noticed that the Music Man cases are recessed internally so that you can keep the bar on the guitar while stashing it. No wonder the MM cases are about an inch deeper than my other cases. Genius.

This whole scenario may sound goofy to those of you that bought your axe new, but I got mine used and had to purchase the bar and backplate separately. If anyone else has this issue, I hope that this thread helps.

Now my Axis RAWKS!!!!

Thanks,
-Raf
