I saw the Axis hardtail in an eBay thread earlier. It made me wonder. I really like the feel and the control layout of my Axis, and it would be great if I could get one like that with the hardtail bridge.

Can the Axis/Super Sport be ordered in that configuration?

I'm not a huge fan of the Super Sport. The controls are more than I need/want. Just give me 2 humbuckers, a 3-way switch, and a volume knob.

You can always re-wire an Axis Super Sport Hardtail to eliminate the tone knob and go to a three way blade switch... It would cost you all of about $5...

Hello everyone!
It's my first post:)
I have a question. It is possible, that Axis Hardtail(not SS) have a tone knob? I read, that Axis Hardtail have only one knob - volume. So maybe the guitar i want to buy is false - i mean it's really Axis Sport, not Axis (but on headstock is "Axis" sign, not Axi SuperSport). Also, it have 3way switch (like Axis). And maybe the tone knob was added, if yes, tell me it is good for guitar.
Sorry for my bad english,

it's not a standard Axis Hardtail but I don't think this is a fake one

Surely a mod added by one of the previous owner

best way is to check the serial number with Dan in the appropriate thread

But as far as I can see, it's not a fake :)

I remember answering your thread about that one. IMHO, it's a real Axis hardtail. The serial number is right for the time period when those were made (1996-1999). Some SN's were all numbers, like that one. I had another where the SN started with A.

It's more than likely an aftermarket (non-original) tone pot that someone has added.

The Axis hardtail is a greatly desired guitar and I'm honestly surprised they are a standard option. I'm actually modding a non-eb guitar with EVH pickups because that guitar has a hardtail and a 3-way toggle knob.

I love my hard tail, Thanks again to Starsky (Am I just becoming a buy forumite used guitar bum?)

Anyway, I found a bonus with my trem Axis, if you put the bar away it makes a rather comfy hard tail! - and becuase it's flatmounted you don't have to mess about with getting in level !

I'm suprised that the Hardtail isn't still in production but then I suppose it's not the most versitile guitar, may put some off, but not me sir!

PS -the one currently on ebay has a load of dings in the top!!

BTW, I think we need a Forum-owned Axis hardtail picture collection . . . might be time to start one.
