Hey guy just picked up a 2001 honey burst axis. Did a little setting up an action is pretty much where i like it low e 1.75 high e 1.50. The e and b string has some deep grooves leading to some buzzing on the b string. Called an today have a new nut coming. He mentioned some filing needs to be done neck side to dial it in. Can anyone give me some info on this please 😄

If it is a straight replacement nut, then there should be no filing required. I cant imagine what was meant by filing. I've done it (replaced the nut) on one of mine and no filing was required. Perhaps the reference is to any burrs?

I heard the same from the guys from musicman when ordering a replacement nut but no info online. Please someone provide info on prep ....my g string feels a bit high. I also read that if a nut Is filed at the grooves that the hard coating will be removed....

Straight Gotoh replacement, Part number FGR-1 C (1 5/8"(41mm) ). I used this for a 1997 Axis case queen I picked up.

No filing or other preparation required.
