Has anyone changed the neck pickup in an Axis? I use a Duncan Jazz in the neck of my old number one that also has a basswood body, (No maple top) and I'm not shure what sound I like best. I don't think one sounds better then the other they just sound way different. Like they should I guess.

I can see how that could be cool, to have Two guitars that sound so different and to use them to play in different situations, but I'm so use to the Strat type snap (lot more brighter then the Axis)
of my old number one I don't know if I should change it or not.

What do you think?

The thing I couldn't believe when I tried an Axis (EVH twin) for the first time was the neck pickup. It was the best sounding neck pickup I have ever heard.

Ed Van Halen said why he never used a neck pickup, was he would always have to change amp settings cause it was too muffled when the amp was set to a good bridge pickup setting.

So when the MM was made the pickups were wired a certain way and you don't get the muffled sound when switching to neck pickup. And thats what I found with the Axis I tried. The sound was deeper as it should be but clear and not muffled.

Anybody agree with me?

I've been writing a lot and makeing a lot of demos, and noticed Im useing the neck pickup for solos more than I used it in the past so I like it fine.

The thing is the Axis is my main guitar now and I'm just accustomed to hearing a different sound on my own songs. My other guitar was my number one for over 10 years so it's going to take some time to get use to the Axis is all I guess.

I'm just going to stay with it (Neck pickup that is.). You know make that sound my own. It's one of those situations were it's the player with the problem not the guitar. This happens with me a lot.

You all know how it is. You go for the solo and can't get it wright,... the way you hear it in your head, so it's got to be the guitars fault wright? ;)
