I think my Albert Lee is a tad thicker or the contour is different enough that it feels a bit more than the Axis.

Are you looking for a bigger neck?

Haven't felt a bigger neck than my homemade Telecaster with WD baseball bat sized neck. That thing is one big piece of wood, but it's got sustain and tone! Still... love my EBMM and hardly play the tele nowadays :)

The Axis neck is (asymmetrically) substantial front-to-back but it is a bit narrower side-to-side. In my perception the asymmetry, whereby the treble side is a bit less deep, makes it not feel as large as some mass is removed on the treble side.

The Silo/Silo Special/Reflex necks feel the largest to me, but that may be because the mass is distributed differently and also in the sense that those necks are a bit wider.

The AL is chunkier in the area of the lower frets while the Silo Special seems to be a bit slimmer there but a bit thicker higher up the neck.

Thanks for the clarification ,guys. Coming from JP necks, I'm actually looking for an EBMM that's NOT too big, but is similar to my Tele ,that it has a bit more wood.

Yeah, I think the Axis is the fit for you!! There is no "other" neck on this planet like the Axis neck - it is in a world of its own!

No EBMM necks are thick when compared to a '50s Tele or Les Paul neck, but they do have a distinctive and comfortable depth to them. You should be fine.

Tung coming off the JP you will be fine with any other neck in the EB line, from the desrciption size you are looking for. The only curve may be with a Luke which has a soft V profile, if you are not into V's. But their are no necks that even come close to being considered a bat.

Thanks for the input, guys, it's really helpful. I used to own a Wolfgang and the neck was great, but never had any experience with an Axis except playing them couple times in music stores.

I had a Wolfie as well. If you liked that neck you will love the Axis. Very similar neck shape and size, but the EBMM feels nicer. The fit and finish of frets is better. Just feels like a higher quality neck even though it plays much the same.
