Can anyone describe the differences between the Axis neck and Silhoutte Special neck? I purchased an Axis last year and it has been the best playing guitar I have ever owned. I can't play any other neck on any other guitar! I even sold my Strat, however I recently started playing in a different band and need to get Strat sounds. Not that the Axis doesn't sound incredible for the rock stuff I was playing, but I now need a little more versatility and was looking at purchasing a Silhoutte Special with 3 single coils. I realize that they are different, but how different? I see by the specs that the dimensions are very close. I can live with slight differences, and carrying an Axis and a Silhoutte Special to gigs seems to be a better way to go than taking the Axis and some other guitar that feels totally different. I've asked about getting an Axis built with single coils, but unfortunately have been turned down twice. (If anyone knows where I can get the EVH model that was produced with 3 singles, please let me know!)

Thanks in advance!

"I can't play any other neck on any other guitar!"

Sorry, but I have nothing to offer in regards to your inquiry...I just have to say that it makes me feel good that I'm not the only one that says that about the Axis/EVH. That neck is just awesome, and I can't play on anythng else either without feeling like I'm doing my EVH's injustice. :)

The neck on my Albert Lee model is just too good. I got my Tele out last night and I couldn't play with near the smoothness and command I could with the EB/MM. I need to take it to my tech and have him try to set it up as close to the EB/MM as possible. Maybe that'll help; but I kind of doubt it...

I own both and love both, the necks are different, but all I can say is that they both have that magic that all the MM necks have, whether it be a morse or an AL or the axis they all have that feel, so now to be a little more specific, the neck on the silhouette is not as round as the axis, it feels a bit wider as well even though its just the neck being a bit thinner, its actually easier on the hands in the upper register if the neck, but it feels very similar, just not as round if that makes any sense, hey hve you tried the axis super sport, they have single coil tones, you can get a great tele tone out of it - lock
