Axis Production Colors Throughout the Years

What colors has the Axis come in besides the standard Amber, Natural, and Red? I'm not talking about custom colors or BFR colors...just the translucent colors on standard production models. Also, I'm only talking about the original Axis...not the Sport or Super Sport.


More specifically, which of the Tribute colors has NEVER been a regular production color For example, amber, purple, blue, red, & natural have definitely all been production. What about green? I know black and pink have not been.

Finally, can anyone give some insight on the production numbers of each color of the Tributes - I'm not looking for specific numbers but which one was the most rare vs. most available?

translucent black has been produced in the past mine of 1996

Can't answer your Q's, but I know trans green was a production color in the late nineties/begin 2000. Furthermore, the first run of tributes were around 120 guitars. I'm sure other knuckleheads can answer your Q's.

### The current run of Tribute guitars are same colors produced when Axis first came about in 1996. These colors were retired for a long time, so BP brought them back for a short time.

### Already been answered. There is ZERO paperwork with a Tribute. A BFR Axis comes with paperwork/Certificate.
You sound like a Collector who is looking to make a buck. Don't bother. If you like the guitar + top, than buy it. There are over 70 Tributes on the GC Platinum website. Have a field day

If you want to collect something, than buy an EVH (if you can find one).

Definitely not a collector. Just trying to make a decision between a trans green & trans black one that are identical in sound and play to me. At this point, I'm probably gonna flip a coin.

Trans Green was never a regular production color on the Axis. We did a limited run of Trans Emerald Green in 2000 for 100 guitars. Those were painted not hand stained. Trans Black and Trans Pink were both regular production colors for the Axis from 1996-1998 while we were still hand staining the guitars. Around this time we started to discontinue a few of the other original colors(trans Purple) and started adding others such as Trans Orange and solid colors like Pearl Lavender, Fire Engine Red MetalFlake Brown and Green.

If I were that close on deciding I would get trans green. If all things are equal, it's going to stand out more than trans black at first sight.

I ended up getting the trans black one because it had so much more figure in the birdseye neck and it didn't require a return trip to Dallas. I'll get some of my own photos up later but here's a pic from the GC website:
