Hi everyone,

Just wanted to share this video of my Axis Sport HSS using Pro Tools 11 and the Eleven Plugin. It's a video I recorded this morning for a competition ran by Shure UK, for a chance to win a trip to LA (from me here in SE England) and access to the NAMM show in 2015 amongst other prizes.

Check the video out here at

If you could give the video a Like over at https://www.facebook.com/events/1452572984986790/ - under "David Clayson", I need to have at least 50 Likes to be counted, so it would also be most appreciated, the competition closes at 1PM GMT on Thursday 31st, every Like counts!

Hope this doesn't count as spam, I am a long time reader here and know what a supportive community it is here.

Hope you enjoy the video of this great Musicman, the more I have used it, the more I am glad I found it when I did. Bring back the Sport!

Well, the competition deadline has closed, I made the 50 Likes. But would still would love to know what people think of the Axis Sport here!?

The Humbucker was used exclusively here in the demo, I have another SuperSport, both were secondhand, but I get the impression the Blue Dawn SuperSport doesn't have the original famed Axis pickups as the Purple Sport sounds a million times better to my ears.

Tone was provided by the Eleven Rack Plugin version, set to a JCM 800 style amp with no pedals. The left rhythm guitar was also the JCM 800 type sound and the right hand side rhythm guitar was a Bassman type amp sim.

I didn't like the tone much, it sounded too harsh to my ears, maybe some EQ'ing would make a difference.

But what caught my eye was how high you wear your guitar.

But what caught my eye was how high you wear your guitar.

There was a compressor added to the guitar and then on the master fader before exporting audio, so a lot of extra attack added, which probably has not helped the high end here, but did not have much time to sort a proper mix before the competition was over. During recording, I battled with latency, which was not the greatest thing to have whilst trying to record something of this nature. I am without a real amp at the moment, so mic'ing one up into my interface was very much missed here.

I actually had a real JCM 800 till about 3 weeks ago, which for my tastes never could achieve the amount of gain I would like. Most sims seem to have much more gain in their JCM 800 models than there really is.

And yes! After 10 years, I'm still trying to work out my preferred standing up guitar strap height! At 5 ft 4, most straps are too long for me, as this here is only slightly higher than my sitting down level, but all I know is that I can't be doing the low strung guitar thing no matter what style I'm playing.

Nothing wrong with the tone in my ears... about the AS. Not exactly my color of choice... but a pretty good rock machine. I'd like a tremm on my ASS, too.
I will never be able to to the Jimmy Page thing with the guitar strap, too.

Love my Axis Sport! I often think it has the best tone of all of my guitars. Mine is the HH version but I would love the HSS or another MM90 one.

I would really like a Transculent Blue SSS Axis Sport to get into strat territory while still playing something similar to my Axis.

This is exactly why I was after an Axis Sport. The Silhouette is not really for me as I'm very much tied to the Axis body shape and neck.

Funnily enough, I found an image on Google about a year ago of the exact Axis Sport I ended up with. At the time it was listed still on a second hand site, but found out that it sold a few years before. Recently it cropped up again on eBay so I knew I had to go for it. I thought I would just change out the hum bucker for a single coil, so my Strat needs would be completely filled, but for now ,I will keep it this way.

The Sports with Ash bodies really do need to make a comeback.

I've deleted the other posts, but it's still a great question.

emg- please don't post the same question in multiple threads, there's no reason to do that and it just creates work for the mods.

It sounds like a great price depending on the condition.

two dings under the body and front. for 680uds.
