Help! Axis Sport vs. Axis Super Sport

Hi there ,

I'm thinking about buying an ash bodied, Axis Sport w/ pickguard, vintage trem, rw fingerboard.

But I can't decide between these older ones and the newer Super Sports.

How do these older Axis Sports sound compared to the Super Sports?

How much do they worth compared to the Super Sports?

any help would be appreciated ,

I find them a tad brighter to my ears. Fantastic guitars with MM90s in them.

They're excellent guitars for the money. Usually can be had for quite a bit less (check Craigslist, etc.).

Let me tell you the Sports you can get for shorter money and from my perspective, they are awesome. Very under appreciated.

Yeah, you can pick up a Sport for less coin than a comparable ASS. I think of the ASS as being more finished, maple cap, trem options, etc. But the Sport is really cool in its own right. I had one in HSS, and it was a blast to play and sounded rip snortin' good. I miss it, but decided to trade it for another Silo Special, mainly due to neck preference. One thing I dug about the Sport hardtail was, it was as light as a feather. I also liked the bridge humbucker way better than the Silo Special's.

As an owner of both, my opinion is that the ash bodied Sport is phenomenal with single coils or MM90s. I prefer the sound of humbuckers in the basswood/maple Super Sport. Both are great.

this one is the two-humbucker version.

does the Axis Sport also have birdseye neck, like all the other MM's?
(on the pictures of this guitar the neck seems to be plain maple, with no birdseye at all, ut hits one I think is an old one, since it has a pickguard)

It depends, luck of the draw really. FWIW, I have two old sports- one has a great flame neck, the other is birdseye city. Both have fantastic necks.
