well I have both, and I love them both but they are totally different animals. I was an EVH user for years and then an axis user for years and I bought a silo special and thats been my main guitar since. The body on the silo is more comfy and I was able to change out the pups easily to get the guitar to sound how i wanted it to which is a plus, changing the pups on the axis is a pain and it lowers the value of the guitar, BUT, the pups that come in them are great, neckwise the silo is a tad wider and thinner, the axis neck cant be beat though, is got a really nice contour to it, I sort of go back and forth in which I like better but after putting the duncan distortion in my silo its become my #1, it s a brighter sounding guitar than the axis ss but the strat style body works for me comfort wise and i guess i just got used to the neck after playing the axis all the years, i know someone else is going to say this but you really need to try them out somehow and see which one grabs you, for me it was both, so I have both -

I really wanted a sport so I found a NOS Purple maple MM90 piezo Trem. I loved it. It sounded fantastic and was gourgous(sp). Silos just are more me. 24 frets, HSH, comfy. (My old friends)

neastguy, I'm in the same position and in agreement with Lock-Ny. It depends on what you want it to do. I have a SS and 2 Sports, love them all. I guess that it depends on what you play and what not.

But I say get both, then there's no problem.

The necks on both guitars are gorgeous, and are pretty similar in feel. Body wise, the Silo is really comfortable- it just hugs your body. The Axis is great too, but doesn't have as much of a body carve to it.

The big difference for me comes down to pickup configuaration. With the Axis you get humbuckers and the Super Sport gives you combinations of coils on each pickup. Pro- you get some out of phase, single coil sounds. Con- you don't get that strat sound that you get when the pickups are close together. You really need a middle pickup to get that characteristic "quack". The Silo gets this.

Personally I like the humbuckers better on the Axis- they're a little darker I find. But if you want good single coil sounds, consider a Silo or Silo Special. (Or a Luke or a Morse ...)

Hell, buy both :D
