I recently bought a 2000, Axis Super Sport MM90 guitar (have a modded Gibson faded and a tele). The original MM90 pickups had been replaced with a set of mini-humbuckers (probably Dimarzio's of some sort), with a 5 way switch. I have come to understand that it is nearly impossible to buy a set of the original MM90's so I like to ask forum members for pickups suggestions. The mini-humbuckers in the guitar are a little hot for my tastes but they were a drop in fit - a must. I might keep the mini-humbucker setup I have now, but I'm leaning to converting the guitar back to P90's with a 3 way switch. I am a fossil who like mainly classic rock, country rock and blues. What are your suggestions?

They're out there, just not a lot of them. I sold a pair once and recently had a pair offered to me for a project I was working on but I decided to go in another direction. They may still be available...

Good luck in your search...

I was the one Fred was referring too with some for sale but I ended up re installing them and well they are not going anywhere:)

I had some killer EMG passive P92 HZ and P91 HZ installed, to me awesome tone.

PM me for details may have some laying around:)

Thanks for the useful feedback. I'll keep trolling I guess, but I'm sure some have tried other P90's like Lollars, Fralins, etc. in an ASS & I was hoping for some a/b comparisons. As for our so very clever (and literate too!) coldsummer and his bum chum Tollie, Im just curious. I asked ask for specific information on this forum on a topic , and obviouly neither of you two have anything to offer but your asinine remarks, nor do you seem interested in the question I posed. So why the **** are you reading my post in the first place. What's wrong numb-nuts, nothing else to do? Here a tip for you, get a life (and Tolle you should get one too, but only after coldsummer tells it's OK).

Hello

Back to the initial topic ...
I own an ASS with the original MM90 pickups. It's a great guitar.
If you already own guitars with humbuckers, some P90 pickups can add some variety to your sound.
I was really surprised that the MM90 pickups were so versatile (in my mind, P90 pickups was a bit for old school rock).
Thus, try to put some P90. I guess the DiMarzio can be a good start.

Hey thanks fbecir. I do have a LP with a split pair of BG Pups wonderful BG Buckers, and a classic tele. The ASS was going to be my P90 guitar. I've also never had an experience with mini-humbuckers - they seem to have their own sound, like a beefed up single coil. For aftermarket pickups I've become a big BG Pups fan so I emailed Bryan at BG Pups, and he said his new mini-buckers would be a drop in fit, not sure about his P90's. I'll probably go with one of BG's offering, but I will keep trying to find a pair of the original MM90's.

I'm sorry, bro. Just trying to be funny...
