Hey guys,

Just a quick question - on my Axis SS hard tail, my action is about 2mm (5/64") measured at the top of the 12th fret to the bottom of the low E - is this how the factory sets it and does that sound like a good height to you for a low action? I can't remember what it was before my tech set it up.

Also, the distance from the top of the pickup cover to the bottom of the low E on both the bridge and neck pup seem very low - like just under 13/64" (5mm) for the bridge and just under 9/32" (7mm) for he neck. Is this a problem for them being too low or am I worrying about nothing?

Cheers

A lot of this is feel, and depends how straight your neck is, etc. Most of my guitars are set up for 3/64" - 4/64" at the 12th fret, with a capo at the first fret.

As far as pickup height, it's fixed at the right height on the Axis series, not something that's adjustable, so it should be good as is.

That's exactly how I set all of my guitars.

Thanks for your replies guys. No - there is no buzzing coming through the amp from the action height. I am reasonably happy with the action - more concerned with the pickup height. I had to screw my pickups back down flush to the body as a guitar tech loosened them thinking that he was raising the height, until I told him they were non - adjustable. I was afraid that I hadn't screwed them down properly or had disturbed the original height, but I guess thats not possible if they are non adjustable?

Naw, sounds like you've got it right- screw them all the way down. It is possible to raise them, but you'd need to have them seated on a small shim, etc. Personally I like how they come from the factory.
