I have always loved guitars with a low string tension for easy finger vibrato and bends, but this new Axis takes the cake. It has an extremely low string tension but somehow does not have the "rubber band" sound that often is associated with low string tension. Maybe its all in my head but I find doing those wacky 1.5 step string bends on this guitar incredibly easy........just sayin. :D

I agree that the bends are easy.....but I gotta ask....

Wouldn't any guitar with a 25 1/2 inch scale and set string gauge have the exact same tension, tuned to the same standard?

I would think fretboard radius would have the most effect.

I'd imagine the tension will be the same for any similarly-scaled guitar tuned to the same pitch. But string gauge, action, fret size and neck profile and make one feel easier than another.

But hey, it's a kick ass guitar any way you slice it.

There was an article by a luthier/tech I read a while back about string tension. I forget who it was but his point was that he couldn't explain it. He observed that sometimes the same model guitar, set up exactly the same had very noticeable differences in string tension.

I own a bunch of Tele's and Strats and this new Axis SS beats all of them without ever sounding "squishy".

Can I have a big AMEN for the newest EBMM convert! :D

Any string that is of the same brand, gauge and type will necessarily need to have the same tension to be in pitch. That's a no brainer, or should be............

I forget how supersticious guitar players are:D

A lot of things can change the feel. Neck relief, nut height, scale, string gauge and brand (material), headstock angle, number of wraps around the tuner (changes the break angle over the nut), bridge type and setup and probably a lot more too :p
