I just bought a new Axis off Ebay. I found sometimes the low E string would slip off the fretboard while playing. Looking closely I noticed the low E was much closer to the edge of the fretboard than the high E (see pics)

I'm wondering

1. Has anyone else seen this type of thing on EB guitars?

2. Can it be corrected?

The neck is straight and tight in the neck pocket, the locking nut is installed correctly and the floyd is set properly so the only cause can be that the pivot studs for the floyd rose were drilled slightly off from where they should be. I don't see how that would be poosible to fix.

if the guitar's new (assuming its not used and was from an authorized dealer) you should have full warranty. try contacting the dealer to see what they say... if they can't help just contact customer support and they'll make sure to sort it all out.

The guitar was new but unfortunately the guy I bought it from isn't a dealer. Hopefully I didn't screw myself here but IMO this guitar should have never left the factory like that.

Call customer service anyways. You can send the photos, I believe.

I do expect that there is possibly enough play to move the neck just a bit. My supersport is similar but on the other end...hi e is closer. But I've found no problems with playing and actually tend to push the low e off the frettboard if I don't think about it.

I tend to agree with Jack. I'd loosen the strings and neck bolts, and see if there's enough play to move the neck a tad to the other side. I've done this with other bolt ons before. Then if that doesn't do the trick, I'd call CS.

there isnt a whole llot we can do with a used guitar.

This dealer has more than likely represented this guitar as new. If we didnt ship it to him it isnt new.

Try what they said above if hnot we will look at it and fix it but not as a warranty claim

Ranamus,

It "is" possible to remedy that!!!

Isn't that nice of the owner to reply to a "single" used guitar issue!!??

Where are you located?? If you're in the area I'll look at it for you.:)

I'm in the Harrisburg Pa area.

The guitar was bought as new and the warranty card is still in the case. Maybe my warranty is still good.????

TNT how would you remedy this problem if the floyd posts are off center - it's not just the low E that's off - all six strings are shifted to the left looking straight on at the guitar. But of course that only causes a problem for the low E.

I sent an email to the person I bought it from to find out if they are a dealer. I just assumed they weren't since I got it off Ebay. The guitar however was brand new and untouched when I got it - with everything including the warranty card.

First, I´d try to contact the seller regarding warranty.

Second, did you try to move the neck? From my own experience (had this problem with another non-EBMM-guitar), shifting the neck just a little, little bit could make a big difference.

You are near BCR Music in Lemoyne, PA. Bring it by there and have Greg Platzer look at it for you. He'll give you a diagnosis.

Ranamus,

Because I "work" on guitars, issues just looks so easily resolved (which they mostly are), but again if you do this all the time.

Since this appears to be a used guitar, and it's history of care/mod's etc. . is unknown, e.g., who did what/when. What I see to be the problem will "probably" then be remedied accordingly:

If in fact the posts are out of correct position - "plug and redrill" / and if need be, implement "lateral neck pocket shims".

Case closed!

Important: I would always call MM customer service first!! I assumed this is not a dealer new guitar, and the problems didn't originate at the factory.

For the record you just wanted some advice on how you might approach what you perceive to be an alignment issue.
