Hey guys,

I wonder if anyone can help me with a pickup problem on my new Axis SS hardtail.

Basically, the pickups were fine when the guitar first arrived earlier this month, but then during a set up the pickups were raised a bit by the advice to get 'more output'. The measurements from the bottom E to the pickup were 8mm on the neck pickup and 6mm on the bridge (thereabouts) after doing this.Since doing this the neck pickup became looser and moved from side to side so was tightened again. Then it was fine but began sinking into the pickup slot and springing back again if light pressure was put on it whilst playing. After tightening this further it is now nice and tight but quite a lot lower than the bridge pickup so is maybe not quite even in output - and now for some reason the bridge pickup is springing up and down if light pressure is applied too now.

I basically want to get it back to how it was from the factory but don't seem to be able to get the pickups to stay tight. Can anyone please tell me what the factory measurements are for the height of the pickups and if it's normal for the pickups to move up and down or side to side, which happens whilst playing it too.

Much appreciated if anyone can help me. Many thanks

Thanks I will try that. My main worry is getting the pickups tight again since they have been disturbed - I hope this isn't irreversible. I know it's normal to have a bit of play in he pickups but as anyone experienced the pickups being loose? I believe there is foam below the pickups but I don't want to be to take it apart and mess with it. This is really annoying cause I just wanna play my guitar - which sounded awesome before all this!

Yes, very quick response which is good. Just waiting to hear the next step to get back to the default pickup position :)

A great way to raise the output of the pups without raising the actual pickups on the guitar is to get an EQ pedal directly after your guitar and before any amp or other pedals, and raise the output level.

Thanks for that. I've just had a very detailed response from customer service on how to rectify the problem - I'll let you all know how I get on. EB Customer Service is the best and quickest I've ever come across - especially as I'm sitting here in England and their in California! :)
