Not being a techie myself, I was wondering if anyone could shed some light on a quandry I have. I have two Super Sports, one with a rosewood fingerbord and one with natural maple. To me, the maple neck appears flatter and easier to play, although both necks are fantastic. Is there any difference in the neck profiles of these guitars? Any comments welcomed.

PS. Had a great time at the Music Live show. Great to meet up with Pete and The Devil again, also The Great Wazoo. Oh and not forgetting the Spudster, slaving away on the hottest stand at the show.

Though the necks are cut by CNC machines, they are sanded by hand. So there can be subtle differences in feel between them

Excatly what Jason said :D

But if you feel one neck is better than the other you can still sand (or have it done by a luthier) so both nect would feel the same. That's the beauty of those unfinished necks, you can realy shape them to your hand

I could swear that both of my JP6 BFR's necks feel fatter/rounder than my flatter feeling JP6 Mystic Dream (which I prefer JP6 BFR necks btw). Maybe besides the finish on the BFR's, that is the reason why. It's really a night a day difference.

That's good to hear then, because I've owned a Rosewood Axis Super Sport for a while that I love to death, but always thought the rosewood neck could be a tad thinner. I have a brand new BFR Axis Super Sport on the way....so perhaps the maple neck will feel even better in hands than the size of the Rosewood. Either way, I'm sure I'll love it, just as much as my Rosewood Axis Super Sport.
