I've got both and for me Axis is more ballsy,ASS is a better all rounder for the gig.

The 2 & 4 positions both give you a nice single coil sound. The only thing you don't really get is a single at the bridge or neck, you're always running at least 2 coils in each position. I think the split positions work best for cleaner rhythm playing.
The single coil neck pup on a Sil Special will get you that Gilmour creamy lead tone.

yeah the ASS doesnt do a true single coil tone, but it does reasonable tnes in pos 2+4 for sure. Silo Special or AL for Gilmour goodness.

on the ASS you have a kind of in between position where you can get one coil only from the humbucker (between pos 1 &2 and between pos 5 & 4)
not the kind of thing you will do live but at home, move the selector slowly you should find it !

Sounds like I need a Silo with the 3 coils. I think I need to dump my fender guitars because after a month of owning an EB guitars, the feel of the fender does not seem right to me anymore.

All of us have been through this ah ah ah. We call it GAS (Guitar Aquisition Syndrom), ALAS (only for Robelinda) or Welcome to the addiction (but you have to pay royalty to koogie)
