I have an EVH music man and have been trying to track down the arm clamp holder (piece that holds the bar on top of the bridge). I was told that Ernie Ball no longer has them. However, from looking at many photos and also a friend's Axis, it seems to be the exact part I need. Does anyone know if this is true or not? Here is a pic link of what I'm talking about:

I really need this part to make the guitar playable again but keep running into dead ends. Will Ernie Ball sell this even though it's not the EVH gotoh brand?

Hi Rich:

I would suggest you click here to send A.J. from EBMM Customer Service a Private Message (PM). A.J. is a top-notch standup guy and will give you the best "official" advice (and sell you the part if EBMM has it!).

Thanks Jeff

I've already actually received some new parts for the tremolo from Ernie Ball. They don't have the EVH arm clmap holder anymore and was informed the photos on their site of the Axis are OLD photos and they don't show the new system. How long ago was the tremolo changed on the Axis? If it was recently, I can understand the photos not being changed, but if it's been awhile, they really should update those.

I'm not having any luck at all finding this part. I'm going crazy here, worried that a great guitar is ruined over one tiny little piece.

The part is easily replaced, particularly if you are willing to go with a non-stock part. I replaced mine because I wanted to make the arm easily removable. Seems like most such parts are interchangeable, though you need the right arm to go with the collar.

Hello Rich,

Welcome to the forum...

I wonder if you can remove the arm assembly and replace it with this Gotoh replacement tremolo assembly? The only issue I can think of is that there may not be enough room on the base plate. Not sure, but it's a $13 part, so probably worth a shot...

Available at many websites, like stewmac, musiciansarsenal, etc...

Good Luck!

Hey Tollie

I'm a Rhode Islander as well...not too far from me. At this point, I will use whatever makes the tremolo work...then I'll work on finding the original part. I just want the guitar playable again.

Could you supply me with a link of what you bought and used???

I got mine from StewMac, pretty much the same part as in Tollie's picture above. It fits, but just barely. I had to file down the knurling on the nut to get it to spin without rubbing on the high E saddle.

So basically it fits but without filing you couldn't turn to tighten or loosen the arm? I ordered it from musicians arsenal yesterday. Hopefully it works while I track down the original piece I need. I appreciate the help!

I bet you can remove the high E saddle, install the new arm set to swing the way you like, then reinstall the high E saddle. Maybe this way you won't have to file the knurling at all?

Good luck!

Probably, but it kind of defeats the purpose if you're looking for an arm that can be removed without tools. I carry my guitars in a gig bag when I take 'em out so getting the bar off is kind of important to me.

Hi all,

I came across this thread due to my own trem problems.

In case anyone else stumbles across this thread needing a new trem arm with new coupling, the Original Floyd Rose "Old Style" arm works and fits perfectly.

It is available from MusicArsenal (I found it because of Tollie's post; thanks Tollie!)
Tremolo Arm Assembly (G) Old Style

Anyone unfamiliar with "Old Style" Floyds, the part of the arm that goes into the trem is threaded like a screw and you...screw it into the coupling by rotating the entire arm.

(As opposed to the "new style" where you tighten the top part of the coupling which is attached to the arm)

The top part of the coupling fits perfectly without causing the high E saddle to move (because there is no knurled part)...and you can remove the arm by unscrewing the arm, not the coupling!
