They are two very different guitars. Provided we are not talking about BFRs, I've owned both and played many of them as well.

The JPM looks and feels stunning. The only thing that I couldn't get used to was the neck which was ultra ultra thin. I think someone measured it to be around 17.5mm thick @ 1st Fret. Play an Ibanez RG1570 to get an idea. Different neck shape but same type of depth. Also the forearm contour on the body takes some getting used to. Some people love it though. To me, the JP has a shredder and prog rock vibe to it which should be obvious to anyone who is a fan of JP.

The Axis has one of the best necks I've played on a guitar. Theres just something about it that makes playing easier. The Axis also has a ton of options, like the SuperSport's vintage trem and hard tail, or the Floyd on the Axis. Even though it looks like a tele it has a Strat vibe to it and is extremely comfortable to play. I may actually pick up another one someday.

You can't go wrong with either but given the choice between the two I would recommend the Axis.

Two very different guitars and the guys here stand by their personal preferences strongly! From the sound of the stuff you play and the way you play (thumb over) then you have made the best choice by far!

I predict that you'll love the Axis!

I have been a Strat owner for a number of years and recently upgraded to an Axis SS with vintage trem.
I have had the opportunity to play Spudmurphy's JP and IMO, for a guy with small hands, the Axis has the edge. The JP plays really well, but the Axis feels more comfortable. Also, the Axis is more versatile because, with the 5-way switch and silent circuit, you can still get exceptional single coil tones - better than the Strat or the Tele.

Based on your original post, I would say you have made the right choice.
Also predict that you may own one of each in the future :)

The HH loaded Super Sport doesn't have a silent circuit. Humbuckers by their nature are hum cancelling.

The MM-90 lodaed model does have a silent circuit.

+1 for versatility of the HH ASS. I personally love the psuedo strat and tele tones I get from my SS - the buckers rock too! I haven't touched my Sport or Sub since getting the ASS...it's a great guitar.

What? I think the JP neck is perfect. It is very similar to my old San Dimas Charvel neck, which were some of the best necks made.

I don't doubt that. I didn't say the JP's neck wasn't good. I mean, how do you define good? But it's a personal preference when it comes to neck carves. Either it suits you, or it doesn't. For me, it's suitable for some styles of playing, and doesn't suit other styles as well. That's basically it.
