Jason from DCGL just called to tell me that my Axis is in and ready to ship. :D
I can hardly contain my excitment. It's so cool because I wasn't thinking about it at all today and then the phone rings, I looked at the number and was thinking damn telemarketers. When he said " It's Jason" I sat up quick in my chair and muted the T.V. I know I've said it alot on here but here it is again, premium natural flame maple top axis. I also got him to install a d- tuna. I can't wait to rip some Judas Priest on it. And don't worry I didn't forget about the pics rule!

Hey bearkat,

Just a question for you: do you have to pay taxes or any other duty fees when you buy a guitar in the States and have it shipped to the Great White North?

Oh... I forgot: Congrats on the new guitar, I can't wait to see pics...

Thanks

I'm always dinged the duty when the guitar crosses the border (via UPS, Fedex, etc.) ... thank you Canada Customs.

Of late, I've been picking them up when I happen to be in the states and I'll carry them back. No duty. Plan to do the same thing when my Y2D is ready! (Probably a drive to Buffalo or Niagara Falls in that case.)

Yeah you have to pay duty fees. I just got some tubes for my dsl from the U.S. and the duty bill with them when they got here. I'm going to check with the customs office here in P.E.I. when the guitar gets here. Because the guitar was made in the U.S. I was wondering if there might be a free trade exemption. It's worth a try. Either way, I don't care about the duty. The local music store (the one that carries EBMM products) sucks and I won't even buy strings from them. If you want I can let you know how much the duty was when I get the bill.

Beej, do you deal with a Buffalo or Niagara Falls dealer or do you get the guitar shipped their to pick it up?

I travel to the states every month or two. (I work/live in Toronto, but my company HQ is in San Francisco.) So normally when I buy something I'll have it shipped to HQ so it's there waiting for me. Once I even got the guys in the office to ship a guitar up here ... they swallowed the customs charges ... hehe ...

The Y2D that's coming is from Pete DuBaldo. If it's ready around a CA trip I'll do the same thing. If not (more likely, since I'm totally itching to get my hands on it) I'll have it shipped to a friend or a receiver in Buffalo or the falls and then drive across for the day to come get it. Way easier and not that far a trip from here.

If you could let me know the duty charges that would be super nice of you... I'm assuming that it will be at least 15% (provincial sales tax + federal sales tax) do they charge any additional fees? If tax paying was an Olympic event we sure would be gold medalists...

I've spotted a really nice guitar in the US (it's an EBMM of course) but I don't want to get burned on the duties when they ship it here...

Thanks to you and Beej!
