Hey everybody,

Been a while since I've posted. Still playin' but g.a.s. and tone chasing had diverted my attention from my Super Sports

Anyway, got back to playing my Super Sports recently. Still using Dr Z amps. A coupla boost and delay pedals in-between the guitar and amp.

But I've been mildy surprised (and pleased) at the sound of my Super Sport (honey burst, maple neck, buckers and whammy). More of a clear, crisp, dry tone from the bridge pickup. Not a bad thing. Just different than I remembered. Same amps. Same settings, etc. And, neck pickup feels like I should be following a little more of the jazz/fusion tones that pulled me away to a lil' semi-hollow body guitar.

Question: anybody else notice difference(s) in the sound of their Super Sports after some time away? Or am I just falling in love all over again? :)

cheers always,

Joel

I am constantly surprised when I come back to any of my Musicman guitars. No....I mean it. Even going from one to another. I was on an exploritory kick a few months ago and bought a bunch of well known guitars that I've never owned. Learned them as best I could inside out. Did lots of testing out, modding, making them the best that they could be. Then I picked up 2 of my EBMM's....my Albert Lee and the highly modded Sub just to do a comparison. Well....immediately following, I sold all of the well known guitars. All of them. They were shamed by the Musicman guitars.

I play in a worship band that has different leaders and different sounds every time, so I pick the guitar that's the best fit. Last time, it was the ASS with MM90's and it just killed for tone. This week, I'm taking out the new SBMM (closest thing to an Axis SS w/humbuckers) mostly to take it out for the first time.

C/N: yes....everytime I pick up an EBMM guitar, it surprises me again as to how good it is.

Dude, I'm missing the Spaceball 3000! That guitar just sang and weighed about 2 pounds! LOL.

Nick wanted to buy it back too......The Cobra behind the Spaceball has just sold and will go to it's new owner Saturday, but the Spaceball is my favorite.....

Well said, I can't even believe the difference between my Reflex and my 25th. The ASS, with same pickups, is way different from the Reflex'. Now I have an ASS with MM90's. What a versatile arsenal.
