Hey fellas! I haven't posted in a while so I figured I'd drop in to say hello! I sold my JP7 (boooooo :( I miss it already, but my friend couldn't get ahold of one so I hooked him up as I can replace it later! :D) but I picked up a refinished JP6 from my buddy for relatively cheap! Then, I modded it a bit! :p

Currently finished in White Pearl now (although I wish it still had the headstock EBMM logo ) and it looks sexy with those killer Petrucci carves! I absolutely LOVE the forearm contour on these guitars! :) On to the pics (these are from arrival day):

Then I decided D-Sonic 6 + basswood = not for me. ;) That was the one complaint I had with my JP7... I personally feel that pickup does a HUGE disservice to the JP model. The custom DiMarzio in the neck is absolutely stellar but I just can't jive with the D-Sonic. Sounds too thin with not enough chunk to it for my tastes I suppose. What to do? Well, I heard about the Seymour Duncan Blackout pickups and haven't gone with active pickups in a while now so why not give it a try? I totally dig them! They took care of my issue with the bridge pickup not having enough chug to it. Then I added a Tremol-No so I could properly lock down the bridge and set the guitar up with .011's in Drop-C (I'm a huge Killswitch Engage/Nonpoint fan [yay, Nonpoint are EBMM endorsed too, smart move on their part, eh? ;)] so that's what I'm using this guitar for). The guitar is absolutely perfect for me now! The EBMM JP neck carve is flawless, and I'm normally not a fan of thinner necks. There's just *something* to it, I don't know what it is but I love it!

Post continued below with more pictures....

The birdseye/figuring on the maple neck is stellar too! For the price I snagged this baby I feel extremely lucky! Great guitar and I've bonded with it. Other than my custom Thorns, this is easily one of my absolute favorite guitars. I hope to grab more when I can afford to do so. I was planning on buying that JP7 from Headstock on here but I snagged an Engl SE and couldn't swing the JP7 because I have another Thorn coming in December...:D:cool: Thanks BP, you put out some fantastic guitars sir! :D

Yeah like I said, I was bummed that he refinished the headstock too, but I got the guitar REALLY cheap (like let's say 1/4 of what they cost new!) because of that. My friend has a buddy who paints cabinets for a living and also does guitars and bikes so the refin isn't perfect but it's definitely no rattle-can job fortunately. When I picked it up the hardware was all rusty and the fretboard was covered in grime (not to mention the frets having some greenish oxidation on them ) because A) he lives near the beach, salt water is bad for metal! and B) he didn't clean it very often. I had to give her some TLC to make everything right again. For the price, I still feel like it was a steal! Only issue I found that I couldn't easily fix is that when his friend put the tuners back on he lost the screws so he used the wrong sized wood screw and cracked the clear near one of the tuners. I swapped all the screws out as soon as I got it because they were rusted a bit too so it seems to not put as much pressure on the wood/paint on the back of the headstock. At least he didn't refinish the back of the headstock too! :p

LOL BP, too funny sir! :D One of my favorite Thorns that Ron finished was this alder-bodied, quilted-top, CRAZY birdseye maple fretboard/neck'ed guitar. The figuring/birdseye on mine isn't as insane as his, but I've always wanted to have a nice guitar with some cool birdseye on it and now I do!

EDIT: BTW, BP is there any way I could score some of the original black plastic knobs that come on the JP6? I don't like the dome knobs this guy put on there. :(

were those dimarzio's put in (ie not factory fit) because that Air Norton in the neck looks like a stock standard DiMarzio one (like i have in my LesPaul.....)

Yep, those were not the originals. My friend took them out and couldn't find them.. :( (I think he just sold them off...) They definitely weren't stock. :)

That guitar looks pretty awesome. The Tremel-no is a pretty good idea. I was actually considering getting a hard-tail for dropped tunings but can't stand the idea of a handicapped guitar.:D

LOL Well there are some chips from before that didn't refin too well I guess so they're still there. I could bang it up a little... geez with the vintage market that adds like 2x+ the selling price! Although you know there are going to be the vintage cats saying "well it's not bone stock...." now!:D

Maybe I should abuse my JP7 and then sell it for five times the amount. Whoever thought that vandalism would pay?:D

I agree! I installed it because, in my opinion, the MusicMan JP trem is easily the best system on the market unless you're doing crazy divebombs (in which case, you already knew you needed an original floyd rose or double-locking trem) so I wanted to keep it hardtail for now but since I do love that trem I didn't want to lose the functionality if I need it. :D Plus, for this guitar I'm using it for detuned metal and I do all sorts of wide bends and pinch harmonics (especially on the low strings) so I want to keep it as in-tune as possible. ;)

It looks pretty easy to install. Any drilling involved?

Nope, if you go to the Tremol-No website Kevan actually posted videos on the installation process. I took him 15 minutes. Took me a bit longer but I don't set up trems too often... No extra drilling though, you just remove the plate and replace it with the tremol-no one, attach that metal pole to the trem block and put the ground wire into the little black screw on the plate (I didn't need one because my pickups are active). Viola! Done! :) Allignment is key though, if it's not dead-on your trem won't function as it should so make sure if you do it that you take your time and make sure the alligment is good. :D
