Our drummer had such a tama thingy with various pads and headphone output. He carried it everywhere. I think it was called Rhythm Watch? Is there such a thing? Shaped like a discman...
But any metronome with some sort of output jack should be fine...

I think the most usefull thing would be to give your drummer headphones and let him be the only one to hear the click. And you guys should listen to your drummers playing. So he is in control of the time. As he should be in "real life"...

I wrote in my last post why: It is my belief that for the rest of the band the drummer should be the point of reference. If his time wavers a bit it'll sounds more musical if everybody goes along with him rathern than trying to counteract...

I was in a band where the drummer didn't show up one night so we played with a drum machine. It was the best practice we'd ever had. The drummer was booted out the next night and we hired on a replacement drummer.
