BONGO5 HSP, DARGIE DELIGHT / Black Ice:

Could this be the ultimate EBMM5 Piezo bass; BP's decisive BONGO strike against a stubborn SR5 HP player's fortress of resistance?

Could a BONGO5 neck ever feel as natural and comfortable as the SR5?

How can this happen to me? Am I going mad?
I'm not even sure if I want this feeling to go away; I'm starting to panick!

Why, yes it could

Well, you just go right ahead and panick your a$$ off. Why not, it's Saturday night, and we're going green.

"Can't wait to see pics of that one. Or any of these Green Meanies. Who'll be the first?"

I think Senor Jack Williams will be first, since they're set for delivery at the birthday bash.
No, check that. I bet Erika gets the first one, and I got $20.00 dollars that says so as well.

Sounds great. I love my HSP Bongo 5. But, I wouldn't say it's the "ultimate." Your ultimate is different than someone else's ultimate. Anyone who has heard the single H or HH Bongo should realize that's a fight no one wins. Well, anyone who ones one, or nine, wins...

You do realize you'll have to get the black ice pickguard separately from the DD Bongo, right? The pickguard that comes with the Dargie's delight is the black, white, black pickguard in the photos. There is no swapping out pickguards on limited editions, and that includes the Dargie Delight.

I have a couple of ideas about aftermarket pickguards myself for the green of the DD, but I'm not sharing so you mooks can't steal my idea without me posting pictures first. :p

Hi bassmonkeee,
I'm still only 75% decided on the HSP; your endorsement helps; for sure I need piezo; I'm at least 80% sure I'll be OK with a BONGO5 neck.

Looks like I'm headed for a shopping trip to find some BONGO5s to test drive before the Dargie Delight window closes.

Thanks for mentioning the pickguard; I don't usually mess with stock equipment, but I'm so intrigued by the Black Ice concept; or maybe even Black Pearl; but only as a minor adjustment.

As far as the pickguard, Dargin tried every possible combination and said nothing looked exactly right except for the black.

Not a big fan of plain black PGs myself, but it does look good on the MOG bass.

BTW, these photos do not do justice to the green finish. This is the same paint that's on the Flaming Biff. Really cool metallic green!

Thanks for that ... I've been wrestling with it in my sleepy Dargie Delight daze and probably come to the same conclusion.

I'm down to wishing for a small DD logo/martini glass, like on the back decal, engraved on the pickguard.

After that feeling goes away it's off to look for some BONGO5 demo units to decide on p/ups.

Let me rephrase this question ...

[... given regular sized hands and fingers, my SR5s feel 'perfect' for me ...]

... are there any significant differences in the feel of SR5 and BONGO5 necks that will cause any regrets about going on the hook for a 165 dd 76 01 ??

Compare SR5 Neck to BONGO5 Neck

Sorry,
EDIT to clarify my question about the BONGO5 NECK

I couldn't find one to try the neck for 'feel' ...

The question for SR5/BONGO5 player's feedback on, is:

"If I like the SR5 NECK, will I probably like the BONGO5 NECK;
are they basically the same cut, but just different lengths?"

Thanks,
PL
